Carillon Women's Chorale

The Carillon Women’s Chorale was originally founded by Karen Nevins in 2001 to feature music composed for the young female musicians of the 18th century Venetian Ospedali in Karen’s EMU master recital. By their request to continue, Carillon now celebrates fifteen years of song. Carillon is comprised of women from all walks of life to include amateur and professional singers/ teachers with a passion for singing. With more recent numbers reaching nearly 30 singers, Carillon women have toured throughout Michigan. They toured to perform in Australia’s Sydney Opera House, in New York’s Lincoln Center and will tour to Carnegie Hall (NYC) in April, 2017.

Since 2012 Carillon has enjoyed three Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra collaborations and will join three other choruses for A2SO’s May, 2017 performance of four Verdi opera choruses. Carillon has collaborated for concerts with the Livingston County Women’s Chorus, VocaLyrica, Trillium, Lenawee Community Chorus, Chiaroscuro Men’s Ensemble, EMU Women’s Chorus, Lincoln High School Split Dimensions, Dearborn High School Women’s Chorus, Agora Chorale, and community children’s choruses. In keeping with Carillon’s philosophy to encourage and support young treble voices, they have provided scholarships to young soloists and collaborative high school women’s choirs. Carillon has enjoyed three ACDA-MI inter-generational Women’s Choral Festivals. By blind audition, Carillon was one of eight ensembles selected to perform in concert at the 2015 ACDA-MI State conference. This year, Carillon will celebrate official non-profit status. Auditions can be arranged through the director. Visit us for updates on Facebook and/or on our website at:
